According to reports, the discussions will focus on regional issues and explore potential pathways to resume diplomatic engagement. Araghchi has confirmed the meeting and praised Oman’s constructive role in facilitating communication between the two sides.

Steve Witkoff, an American diplomat, serves as the Trump administration’s special envoy for Middle Eastern affairs. He plays a central role in managing sensitive regional files, particularly those involving Iran and the Gaza crisis. Vitkav has also been actively involved in ceasefire negotiations in Gaza and is reported to maintain a cordial relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
